Overview
For the analysis, it is important to differentiate elements that act only as shading to the building vs. elements that comprise the building envelope, which will be used for the analysis in calculating heat gain/loss and square footage.
Balconies:
Balconies should be modeled as separate floors from the interior floors. After generating Sefaira views, select the balcony floors and select "Shading for Sefaira" in the properties tab. Click here to read more on shading for Sefaira in Revit.
Roof Overhangs:
Roof overhangs should be modeled as separately from roofs that are part of the building envelope. After generating Sefaira views, select the roof overhangs and select "Shading for Sefaira" in the properties tab. Click here to read more on shading for Sefaira in Revit.
Patios/Sidewalks/Courtyards/Parking Lots:
Floors that are outside of the building for patios, sidewalks, courtyards, parking lots, etc.. should be modeled as separate floors from the interior floors. After generating Sefaira views, select the outside floors and select "Ignore for Sefaira" in the properties tab. Click here to read more about ignoring items for Sefaira. Ignored items will disappear from the Sefaira views (but are not deleted from the model).
