How We Use Data

We use data to improve the user experience and inform our product development efforts. Our formal privacy policy can be viewed here.

In an effort to be as transparent and helpful as possible, we've prepared the following post which outlines what data we capture and how we use it.

User Profile

Your user profile includes information such as your name, email address, and account name.

Your profile information is used to:

Manage your access to Sefaira products
Tailor the onboarding, support and marketing communications that you receive
Illustrate to Sefaira managers how the product is being used so we can better focus our product development

So who can see some or all of your profile information?

You, by logging into manage.sefaira.com
Your account administrators
Sefaira managers
Collaborators on your shared projects

If you are an account manager, your name and email address will be shared with the Sefaira users within your company. (This is probably not surprising as they look to you to help them gain access to Sefaira!)

In situations where your Sefaira project has been shared with a collaborator outside of your account organization, the collaborator will see the sharer’s name and email address.

Cookies

Sefaira is primarily a web-based product. Cookies are used on websites and web-based products to improve the user experience. Given that they are a way to capture user information, you should understand how Sefaira uses cookies:

In the Web Application

Cookie name	Cookie use/description
authorization	Stores a token defining your authorization to use Sefaira
authtime	Stores the time user logs into webapp
targetUrl	Stores the previous url the user accessed in case it is not authenticated to be redirected back to after login
closeComparison	Stores if the user closed the comparison (energy tab)
warning_[ concept id ]	Used to determine if a warning was already created
hideNewHeader	Used to check if the user closed the webapp header on the projects page
newProject[ concept id ]	This is set when a new project is created. Multiple cookies like this may end up being created.
turnThermalComfortOnAfterReload	Remembers that you have Thermal Comfort switched on.
boundaryScale[ concept id ]	Used to toggle site boundary view on or off on plan zoning view
boxHowSynthetic	Used to hide some boxes in the shading tab
cloning	Remembers if you’ve hidden the “Add Comparison” box below the results grid
download_results_grid	Remembers if you’ve found the “Download Results Grid” link and switches it to a smaller icon.
conceptSelected	Remembers the concept you have selected
update-callout-version-[ version ]	Remembers the banner version we show so you don’t see old messages
browserfingerprint	Used to detect different devices for authentication purposes

In the Plugin

modelEntityChecked	records that the user checked entities
visualizationType	records which style (gradient, contours, or grid) is selected
imperial	helps set the measurement units
footcandles	helps set the measurement units
hide-disrupted-banner	records when an alert is dismissed
banners.survey.cookieKey	displays a survey banner
browserfingerprint	Identifies the default browser
authorization	checks for the authorization to use Sefaira
"email"	records the username (which is the user's email address)
authtime	timestamps the login
ambientbounces	records the ambient bounces user setting
analysisMode	records the analysis mode: Daylighting, Energy or Energy & Daylighting
gridResolution	records whether a high or low grid resolution is being used
popover_dismissed	records when an alert is dismissed
